ABSTRAKT
The peculiarities of microbial processes of organic matter decomposition and methane production in bottom sediments of the reservoirs of the Volga and Kama rivers were revealed as a result of long-term investigations. It has been shown that these processes are of considerable importance in the cycle of carbon. In addition, they essentially influence the environmental conditions.
