Evaluation of Primary Production Provision in Small Lake and its Trophic State
ABSTRAKT
The approach was developed to assess provision of primary production (phytoplankton) by nitrates in the small lakes. By example of a series of lakes of different trophic status the ratio was calculated between primary production, measured by traditional method of dark and light bottles, and production, obtained by conversion of nitrate concentration in water by Redfield stoichiometry, "nitrate production". It was supposed that three types of this ratio (below 1, equal to 1, above 1) indicate character of the producers' limitation in the ecosystem. It was revealed that within the same trophic type there are water bodies differently using their production potential depending on the nutrient load and, presumably, on the tension of phyto- and bacterioplankton relationship in their ecosystems.
