The Outcome and Complications of ACL Reconstruction Augmented with a Ligament Augmentation Device for a Follow-up Period of More Than Five years

ABSTRAKT

The outcome of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction augmented with the Ligament Augmentation Device (LAD), a braided polypropylene device, was reported in 60 patients out of 105, at an average of 94.7 months after surgery. As autogenous tissue, quadriceps ten-don-prepateliar periosteum-patellar tendon (QTS), and then semitendinosus and gracilis tendons (STG ) were selected. At current follow-up, there were no significant differences of any parameter among the 3 groups. Anterior laxity with KT-1000 averaged a difference of 3.3 mm with 8 knees more than 5 mm. Revision surgery was needed in 10 knees (5.3%). The QTS group improved in extension loss and extension strength, while the STG group showed deterioration in anterior stability over the longer term. There was no persistent problem of cases with chronic hydrops.
