EVOLUTION OF NONLINEAR PANEL FLUTTER OSCILLATIONS

ABSTRAKT

We present visualization of unstable behavior of elastic plate in subsonic, transonic and supersonic air flow. At subsonic flow the instability in the form of divergence has been obtained. For the case of single mode flutter, which occurs at low supersonic Mach numbers, several plate eigenmodes can be simultaneously unstable, and resulting oscillations are governed by nonlinear interaction of unstable modes. It is shown that under the same conditions several distinct types of limit cycle oscillations can develop. For the case of coupled mode flutter, which occurs due to coalescence of two plate eigenfrequencies, stability boundary and the plate oscillation shape are in a good agreement with classical results. In all cases the amplitudes and frequencies of the oscillations are analyzed
