MECHANISTIC MODELING OF DRYOUT
摘要
Dryout is the mechanism responsible for the occurrence of critical heat flux (CHF) at high quality, i.e., in annular two-phase flow regimes. Its prediction is of paramount importance in determination of the thermal margin of boiling water reactors (BWRs). Similar phenomena are also observed in loss of flow (or coolant) accidents in both pressurized water reactors (PWRs) and BWRs. The mechanistic model reduces the level of empiricism by using correlations to predict more basic annular flow dynamics. This allows prediction of untested geometries with reasonable confidence. This chapter gives an account of the mechanistic modeling of annular Bow and its application to both tubular as well as rod bundle geometry.
