摘要

Modal Decompositions are an important tool in the study of vibration type problems where we can ascertain mode shapes and mode frequencies for a given oscillation. The Dynamic Mode Decomposition (or DMD for short) is way of performing a modal decomposition on fluid flows by collecting data from either a simulation or real life experiment. In this paper we have used the DMD to find "mode shapes" and "mode frequencies" of a Lid-Driven Cavity flow with both varying and non-varying boundary conditions in time using some modifications to the method. We then use these mode shapes and frequencies to construct a reduced-order model which can be used to predict future states of the flow at lower computational costs and allow us to use active flow control strategies.
