Validation of a numerical model for simulating solar chimney performances
摘要
The aim of this study is to validate a numerical scheme in order to simulate turbulent air flows in solar chimney applications. Modeling is performed by applying a Finite Element approach in order to compute thermal and fluid-dynamical fields. The adopted numerical scheme is validated by comparison with analytical, experimental and numerical results previously published in literature. Simulations are then carried-out in order to analyze the solar chimney performance as a function of several geometrical and functional parameters. Energy potentially converted by a solar chimney plant during one year is assessed by considering Mediterranean climate conditions.
