摘要

In this paper simulation of a three-dimensional turbulent lid-driven cavity (LDC) flow has been performed using the multiple relaxation time lattice Boltzmann method (MRT LBM). In this case a LDC flow at a Reynolds number of Re = 10,000 was simulated without numerical instability. For the turbulent regime, the flow field is characterized by a complex and compact vortex structure. The vortices were visualized using both the second invariant and Δ criterion. Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) was also performed on the two dimensional fluctuating velocity fields on two different planes. The POD efficiently extracted the large-scale vortical motions. Analyses of the vortices using different approaches agree well with each other.
