Numerical simulation of char conversion in a high-pressure, high-temperature drop tube reactor
摘要
The multiphase gas flow and carbon conversion in a high-pressure, high-temperature drop tube reactor has been simulated. The reactor is dedicated to measure reaction kinetics under gasification conditions. For this, an exact estimation of the particle residence time is necessary. A direct measurement of the residence time is difficult due to the complex, buoyancy-driven flow field evoked by the periodically heated reactor walls. In this study, numerical simulations of the three-dimensional flow field were carried out to estimate the particle residence time, and to study the interactions between temperature sensors, test probe, and flow field. The results reveals clearly that accuracy of high-temperature, high-pressure kinetic measurements can be increased significantly by the use of CFD.
