摘要

Convection can occur in different processes, which may not entirely depend on the buoyancy force. One of these processes is due to the surface tension gradient also known as Marangoni convection. Such convection creates a strong flow leading to instability for a clear fluid. Similar instability can also take place in porous media. Flow behavior in porous media is dominated by the interaction between the solid matrix and the fluid-filled voids. A new treatment of the surface tension gradient at the free surface for a porous medium showed the occurrence of convection due to a temperature gradient normal to the free surface. The interaction between the Rayleigh convection and the Marangoni convection created a mixing flow and the formation of multiple cells rotating in an organized fashion.
