Abstract

The paper discusses the results of experiments conducted with heat transfer hysteresis in metal fibrous porous coverings. Three qualitatively different boiling curves were selected: I-kind hysteresis, characterized by a decreasing heat transfer coefficient after the flux is decreased, occurring after the maximum flux value is reached, II-kind hysteresis, characterized by a growth of the heat transfer coefficient when the heat flux is decreased to below its maximum value and III-kind hysteresis characterized by a decrease and increase of the heat transfer coefficient, also a rare occurrence. Boiling process mechanisms in individual boiling curves with hysteresis were interpreted.
