This is the first attempt to study the physical processes accompanying the formation of a static ribbon electron beam (EB) within the interaction space of a diffraction radiation oscillator (DRO) as an approximation of the analytical theory. The aim is to study the process of EB formation near the surface of a diffraction grating under various physical parameters and engineering factors inherent in an electron-optical system of a DRO equipped with a diode electron gun, namely the dependence on the mirror spacing and electron gun parameters. It was revealed that electron beams in DRO and conventional O-type devices are different.
