T1 HIGH TEMPERATURE SYNTHESIS OF MODIFIED EXFOLIATED GRAPHITE-BASED MATERIALS AND THEIR MECHANICAL PROPERTIES JF High Temperature Material Processes: An International Quarterly of High-Technology Plasma Processes JO HTM YR 2000 FD 2000-12-01 VO 4 IS 4 OP 9 AB Using perspective trends in formation of exfoliated graphite (EG)-based composition materials by synthesis of non-organic combinations on the surface of EG-particles, it was proved the possibility of purposeful change of properties both of EG-powder surface and EG-based moulded materials.
This work presents a method of synthesis of alumosilicates on the surface of EG-particles in order to improve the thermooxidazing resistance of graphite.
Methodical approach an evaluation of formation and deformation processes, as well as an evaluation of structural strength of pressed articles produced from modified EG-powder, was elaborated. It was established that process of synthesis of alumosilicates on the surface of EG-particles leads to the formation of energetically more stable honeycomb powder structure in vermicular form with decreased number of defects in continuity of the structure in form of powder. This property increase the durability of articles, produced from EG-powder with modified surface.
