Nonlinear Problems of Dynamics of Flexible Filaments and Rods of Variable Lengths in Flows and Their Applications in Ocean Engineering

ABSTRACT

The problems of dynamics of flexible filaments and rods in flows have been considered. The structure length in these problems either varies with time either according to a given law (the dynamics of the filament-body system during its submergence and rise to the surface) or is determined in the process of the problem solution (vibrations of anchor cable, dynamics of cable and pipeline laid on the sea bottom, control of subwater motion of a filament-body system). New independent variables are introduced, which allow one to consider the problem with a constant domain of integration. The corresponding numerical algorithms are constructed with the use of trigonometric and Chebyshev's expansions of unknown functions by the Galerkin and collocation methods.
