DNS CALCULATIONS FOR THE MODELING OF REAL INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

ABSTRACT

The methodology of numerical modeling fundamental processes in multiphase flows that take place in technical applications is considered. A workflow for the whole modeling process is presented and illustrated on the basis of different examples that were carried out numerically. The numerical investigations for the discussed cases result from direct numerical simulations using the in-house code FS3D. This code solves the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and employs the volume of fluid method to consider multiple phases. The potential of modeling basic processes based on detailed numerical simulations is shown and discussed.
