摘要

This paper presents results of the research carried out by the authors in the field of duplex treatment. The main factors, determining the operation properties of nitrided layer / PAPVD coating composites are discussed. Potential fields of application of duplex treatment technique for improving the lifetime of tools operating at heavy thermal and mechanical loads and at intensive abrasive wear are pointed out. Two examples of industrial implementation of elaborated technologies are shown. Elements of moulds for pressure casting of aluminium coated with the composite: nitrided layer /TiN coating show 5 to 8-fold increase of the lifetime compared to gas nitriding. Application of the composite: nitrided layer / CrN coating to hot forging tools, instead of standard nitrided layer, caused a lifetime increase of nearly 100%.
