IMPACT OF HEAT GENERATION/ ABSORPTION ON MHD MIXED CONVECTION FLOW IN A VERTICAL TUBE HAVING TIME PERIODIC BOUNDARY CONDITION: STEADY-PERIODIC REGIME

摘要

This work aims to study the flow formation and heat transfer aspects of steady fully developed mixed convection flow of a heat generating/absorbing, viscous, incompressible, and electrically conducting fluid in a vertical tube having time-periodic boundary condition in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. The analysis is carried out for a fully developed parallel flow and steady-periodic regime. The governing dimensionless momentum and energy equations are separated into steady and periodic parts and solved analytically. The solution obtained is represented graphically and the effects of the heat generation/absorption parameter, magnetic field parameter, Prandtl number, and dimensionless frequency on flow formation and heat transfer aspects are investigated in detail. The results indicate that an increase of the heat generation parameter enhanced the rate of heat transfer, whereas an increase in the heat absorption parameter reduced the rate of heat transfer. Moreover, increasing magnetic parameter decrease the amplitude of the friction factor oscillation.
