Transient Processes in Boiling on Heat-Generating Composite Bodies

ABSTRACT

Transient phenomena in a subcooled liquid under sharp increase in heat input are considered. The experimental data obtained in an annular channel with a central heating rod are described. It is revealed that due to destruction of the vapor envelope around the heat input element a vapor explosion type shock process occurs. A theoretical model of the transient process is proposed. The experimental data and the results of calculations agree well.
