Efficient Non-Monochromatic Pumping Sources for Organic Solution Lasers
摘要
Results of studying the electric and power spectrum characteristics of high-power microsecond discharges in coaxial and tubular xenon flash lamps are presented. The operation mode with preliminary ionization of the discharge channel has also been studied. Expressions are derived for the electric conductivity and radiation rate of the xenon plasma. They describe the hysteresis of voltage-current characteristics of the discharge as well as the retardation and broadening of the light pulse with respect to the pulsed electric power. The increased optical yield of the lamp in the pre-ionization state is shown to be due to an increase of the gas-discharge temperature. An efficient calculation technique for pumping systems of dye lasers with desired power characteristics has been developed for a broad range of excitation energies.
